Q - Who are Quoteline Direct ?
A - Quoteline Direct are part of the Wilsons Insurance Group
who are professional registered insurance brokers with a
direct approach to customer satisfaction. Wilsons Insurance
Group started to serve their customers in 1969 and are now
one of the major insurance brokers in the U.K. Quoteline
Direct ® is a registered trade mark.
Q - Who is the insurance company?
A - With perhaps one of the most comprehensive online car
insurance quote systems available, we search for the lowest
possible quote from over 450 policies - immediately online.
Our policy's are provided by the countries leading insurers
including AXA, CGU, Cornhill, Fortis, NIG Skandia, Lloyds
of London, Royal Sun Alliance, Norwich Union, Eagle Star,
Zurich and many more.
Q - Is Breakdown cover included in my motor quote ?
A - Full breakdown cover is available for £59 a year.
Q - What is no claims bonus and how does it affect my
premium ?
A - Your no claims bonus is a reward for remaining claim
free. It rises on a scale up to 9 years. The more bonus
earned the cheaper your premium will be. Your No claims
bonus can be protected, this facility is normally available
when you have been claim free for 4 - 5 years. Protected
no claims bonus will not have been included in your online
motor quotation.
Q - How often do premium prices change?
A - Premiums increase or decrease as each insurance company
assesses the costs of transacting business, usually on a
monthly basis. Insurance companies have generally been losing
money over the last few years and as such will be seeking
to increase rates over the next few months.
Q - How do I get a quote for a Q plate / Imported /
Modified Vehicle ?
A - All the above can only can only be fully catered for
using our quoteline consultants (EU Imports only). We will
negotiate each case with the insurers before a final premium
is quoted.
Q - Why don`t you provide motor insurance cover for
Northern Ireland ?
A - Most insurance companies only provide cover through
Brokers or Agents based in Northern Ireland. We are currently
negotiating with a number of insurers and hope to be able
to offer cover soon.
Q - What do I get included with my insurance policy
?
A - All new clients receive our unique Customer Discount
Book and a first class service.
Q - Why can`t I pay online ?
A - We have found that the vast majority of our customers
require further information before they take out their policy
and want the confidence of knowing that they have chosen
the correct cover. In addition to this, many of the major
insurance companies are unwilling to provide cover online
and to omit these companies when searching for your quote
would increase the cost to you.
Q - My car has been "Modified". Do you need to know,
and will it affect the cost of my cover ?
A - We do need to know and it may well affect the cost of
your policy. Make sure you tell us when you ring up take
out your cover if your car has been modified so we can ensure
you are fully covered.
Q - How can I tell which alarm I have?
A - All alarms are categorised by 'Thatcham' (a motor research
institute). Some insurers will give discounts for various
alarms but not for others. To obtain a discount for an alarm
or immobiliser you must specify the exact alarm by referring
to the alarm documentation provided at the time of purchase.
If you do not have such information insurers will not grant
discounts.
Q - I am trying get an online car quotation and cannot
find my car on your database ?
A - The vehicle ABI listings are exhaustive and should cater
for your vehicle. This is not always the case. If you cant
find the exact model find a similar model and give us a
call on 0870 444 0870 and select the new business option.
We will identify your exact model and make the necessary
changes to your quotation.
Q - Why did my online car insurance quotation not give
me a price ?
A - Please bear in mind that heavy numbers of users impact
on the service and performance of the quotation system.
Heavy web traffic can increase the time it takes for your
quotation to be processed and in extreme cases may lead
to your quotation timing out.
In addition, there are several reasons why you may not
receive a quote from the insurers. You may not have entered
your details correctly and the insurers will detect an anomaly
in the data that you have provided. This may simply be due
to an error of data entry. You can review the data that
you have entered, correct the error and proceed with the
quote.
Q - What should I do if all insurers decline my request
for insurance?
A - There are several reasons why insurers might decline
to quote. You may not have entered your details correctly
and the insurers will detect an anomaly in the data that
you have provided. This may simply be due to an error of
data entry. You can review the data that you have entered,
correct the error and proceed with the quote.
It is quite possible that no insurer is willing to quote
because they consider that the risk is unacceptable. The
risk could be unacceptable because of your driving record
or convictions or age or car. Q - How can I
Q - How can I pay for my insurance policy ? Can I pay
in instalments ?
A - We accept payment by all major credit cards (excluding
American Express), Switch and Cheque. Installment facilities
(including Direct Debit up to 12 months) are normally available.
Please ask your advisor for full written details. Applicants
for payment by Direct Debit must be over 18.
Q - Why can't I pay online ?
A - We have found that the vast majority of our customers

Q - What documentation will you send me ?
A - If your took out an insurance quote online you will
receive an e-mail confirming your quotation. When you take
out cover you will receive your cover note or insurance
certificate & policy. Keep the documentation safe for your
future reference.
Q - How can I obtain copies of my documentation?
A - To obtain a duplicate copy of your insurance policy
documentation ring 0870 444 0870 and select the option for
Customer Services. Alternatively e-mail customerservice@quotelinedirect.co.uk
. You may be required to complete a form to obtain your
new documentation and their may be a charge for this service.
Q - How can I make changes to my insurance policy ?
A - To make changes to your insurance policy ring 0870 444
0870 and select the option for Customer Services. Alternatively
you can request changes to your home or motor policy online,
by visiting the existing
customers area.
Q - How do I make a claim on my insurance policy ?
A - To make a claim contact our claims department on 0870
444 0870 and select the option for claims. Alternatively
e-mail claims@quotelinedirect.co.uk.
E-mails are normally processed between 9.00am & 5pm Monday
to Friday.
Q - Am I entitled to a courtesy car ?
A - Most insurers will provide a replacement vehicle following
an accident as long as an approved repairer is used, subject
to availability. Our claims department will be able to confirm
these details for you.
Q - Who do I pay my excess to ?
A - If a policy excess is applicable, it is payable to the
repairing garage upon completion of repairs.
Q - Is my excess recoverable ?
A - Yes if you are involved in a non fault accident and
there is a third party to caim from. If you have purchased
our unique legal expenses cover we can assist in the recovery
of your policy excess along with any other losses or out
of pocket expenses from the third party.
Q - Can I get emergency repairs done ?
A - You can have urgent remedial repairs completed (eg leak
on a sink fixed). You cannot replace damage caused by the
accident without first consulting your insurance company
first and obtaining their agreement and approval.
Q If I have a small accident should I make a claim?
A If you have a small accident such as a dent or broken
light where there is no other car involved you may be better
off repairing the damage at your expense rather than claiming
on your insurance and possibly losing your no claims bonus.
Look at the excess on your policy and make the appropriate
decision. Be aware that any bodily injury should be reported
to the police.
