Optional extras - Other products available as well as your car insurance, such as breakdown cover.

Ordinarily resident - If you are resident in the UK year after year, you are "ordinarily resident". Most UK insurance policies require you to be ordinarily resident in this country.

Over insured - This is where you have taken an insurance policy that covers you for more than you need and as such you will be paying a higher insurance premium than you need to, for instance where the market value of your vehicle has been overestimated.

Overseas - A country other than England, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales.

Owner - The legal owner of a vehicle, not necessarily the person who runs, maintains or uses it.
